Use the Slide Master to brand a whole deck at once
Change fonts, colours and logo placement across every slide in one place, rather than editing forty slides by hand.
Every PowerPoint file has a hidden master slide that all the others inherit from. Editing it is the difference between five minutes and an afternoon.
-
Open the master
Click the View tab, then Slide Master. The top slide in the left panel is the master; the smaller ones beneath it are layouts that inherit from it.
-
Set the fonts and colours
With the top master slide selected, use the Slide Master tab, Fonts and Colors buttons to pick your brand set. Every slide updates immediately.
-
Add your logo once
Still on the top master slide, insert your logo and position it. It now appears on every layout. Put it on an individual layout instead if you only want it on section headers.
-
Fix the placeholder sizes
Drag the title and content boxes on the master so all your slides line up in the same place. Nothing makes a deck look more professional than titles that do not jump about between slides.
-
Close and apply
Click Close Master View. If a slide ignores your changes, someone formatted it by hand — select it and use Home, Reset to snap it back to the layout.
Common questions
How do I save this as a reusable template?
File, Save As, and change the file type to PowerPoint Template (.potx). Saving it into your Custom Office Templates folder makes it appear when you create a new presentation.
